About Us

FARE is a non-profit organization working with autism in Chattogram, Bangladesh registered (2784/07) under the DSS.

Foundation For Autism Research & Education (FARE)

The Foundation for Autism Research and Education is a non-profit organization that was founded on October 2, 2007. The organization is led by some devoted parents of individuals with autism and some philanthropists in society. FARE helps persons with autism to achieve their potential.


Autism is a lifelong condition with no cure but the difficulties can significantly be managed through intervention at an early age. Autism, according to the World Health Organization, is estimated to affect around 10% of any population. Special education and training can help people with autism to progress socially, physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Keeping that in mind, FARE works for children with autism by providing proper care, service, and rehabilitation. The elite people of the society are the members of the executive committee as the governing body in the organization. The Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong is the president of the organization.

History of FARE

Foundation for Autism Research and Education is a Parent based organization founded is October 2, 2007. At present Autism is one of the major health crisis is Bangladesh. People Knows about the term Autism but very few people knows about its consequences. Autism is a lifelong issue that needs proper care, service and rehabilitation In Bangladesh.


There is no definite system of special education. Parents of this foundation felt the need to establish an institution where autistic children may go for education It was founded by parents and till date it is funded by parents and some philanthropists of the society. Deputy Commissioner, Chittagong is by post the president of this organization Elites of the society as well as general people are its member It has got an executive committee for its governing mechanism.

Vision

To facilitate a barrier-free environment; to enable the empowerment of persons with autism and their families; and to act as a catalyst for change that will enable persons with autism to live as fully participating members of the community.


Our vision encompasses a future where persons with autism are recognized for their unique talents and contributions, and where their rights and dignity are upheld in a society that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.

Mission

To implement the vision of FARE, five areas are allocated to develop its strategic plan. These areas include:


  • Services: To develop standard services in autism through training in home and abroad.
  • Education: Providing the educaion for autism that can develop different skills for future employment & social development.
  • Support: Provide the support to the person with autism and their families.
  • Advocacy: To provide information regarding autism awarness and arrange programs in the society. Support the national program & other local program.
  • Research: Translating research results into applied practices for autism in everyday lives. Identifying and promoting areas of autism in context to Bangladesh.

Legal Status

FARE is registered under the Department of Social Services, Government of the people’s republic of Bangladesh with Section 4 (3) of the Voluntary Social Welfare Institutions (Registration and Control) Ordinance (No. 46) of 1961 on October 1, 2007. The Registration number is 2784/07.


FARE’s activities must follow these act, rules & policies:

  • Neuro-Developmental Disability Trust Law 10 Nov 2013.
  • Neuro-Developmental Disability Trust Rules 9 Sep 2015.
  • Integrated Special Education Policy on Disability 10 Oct 2019
